Fakelore – Episode 6 – Mazes and Labyrinths

You remind me of the babe! Labyrinth may be a favourite movie of ours, but it’s not the core focus of this episode of Fakelore, as Magill and Caitlyn discuss the possible folkloric origins of The Maze Runner. Are mazes and labyrinths the same thing? You can find out by clicking here to download the episode! And be sure to stick around for the afterparty at the Crocodilopolis.

Thought of one literary labyrinth you didn’t mention: the maze that’s the final test in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (which winds up being one of those sacrifice/death labyrinths, because getting to the middle transports you to a graveyard where the first character to actually die in the books gets killed…)

Also, Hogwarts totally counts as one of those shifting maze houses.

Also, Mark Z. Danielewski’s novel House of Leaves, which is both about a living labyrinth & a labyrinth itself (of the ritual kind), especially with the footnotes.
